RDOS Introduces EV Charging Project for Sustainable Transportation
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is excited to announce its latest initiative, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for public and RDOS fleet vehicles. This move underscores the RDOS's commitment to sustainability and aligns with the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth.
As EVs gain popularity in British Columbia, the RDOS is meeting the increasing demand for charging stations for the public and RDOS fleets. Charging locations have been strategically located across the region to make EV charging more accessible for everyone, from RDOS workplaces to public spaces.
The charging stations are planned to be installed throughout 2024 at these locations:
- 1655 Reservoir Road, Penticton (Fleet)
- 311 9 St, Keremeos (Public and Fleet)
- 101 Martin Street, Penticton (Public and Fleet)
- 1109 Willow St, Okanagan Falls (Public and Fleet)
- 132 1 St, Tulameen (Fleet)
- 2x fleet charging locations to be confirmed based on fleet priority.
Flo Services Inc. has been awarded a $282,000 contract by the RDOS to supply and operate 22 EV charging stations. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions, boosting economic growth, and bringing our community together, the RDOS is paving the way for a cleaner, greener Okanagan-Similkameen.
