To qualify to be a Resident Elector, you must be:

• 18 years of age or older at the time of voting
• A Canadian citizen
• A resident of BC for at least 6 months
• A resident of the proposed service area
• Not disqualified from voting
• Able to provide at least 2 pieces of identification proving residence, one with signature (current and valid)

To qualify to be a Non-Resident Property Elector (NRPE), you must:

• Be 18 years of age at the time of voting
• Be a Canadian citizen
• Be a resident of BC for 6 months
• Be a registered owner of property in the service area for at least 30 days
• Only register for one parcel in the service area as an NRPE (fill out the applicable form), only one NRPE may register per parcel
• Have the written consent of majority of registered owners (on applicable form)
• Be able to provide at least 2 pieces of ID, one with a signature (current and valid)

Yes, if they qualify as a resident elector.

Corporations cannot vote. Section 64(3) of the Local Government Act states, “For clarification, no corporation is entitled to be registered as an elector or have a representative registered as an elector and no corporation is entitled to vote.”

The Regional District does not maintain a voters’ list. Electors register to vote at the time of voting.

• The assent vote will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Okanagan Falls Community Centre, 1141 Cedar Street, Okanagan Falls.
• An advance voting opportunity will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at the RDOS office, 101 Martin Street, Penticton.
• Applications for a mail ballot are available. Mail ballots must be returned by April 12, 2025, to be counted.

An advance vote will be held on April 2, 2025. You may wish to apply for a mail ballot.

Photo ID is not required but, at least one piece must have your signature.

The combined Driver's Licence/Health Card is considered one piece of identification.

The Presiding Elections Officer, at their discretion, may accept other forms of identification.

The service areas for each utility are not identical. Each utility has a separate service area and must have a separate assent process.

If the majority of votes are in favour of the question, the vote passes. If the majority are opposed to the question, the vote fails. There is no minimum number of votes that must be cast.

If an assent voting process fails, the utility will remain privately owned.

• Operational costs will be covered by fees and charges, based on connection and usage.
• Capital costs for the Lakeshore Waterworks utility will be covered through a parcel tax, estimated to be $2,869.17.

All qualified electors are entitled to vote. The same qualifications for general local elections apply to assent voting opportunities.
